An investigation is underway after two women were killed and a man hospitalized after a shooting late Thursday night on a Macon County road.
At around 10:15 p.m. on June 25, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office posted a vague statement about the 6100 block of Scottsville Road being shut down due to an incident. Very little details were released at first, and it wasn’t until 7 a.m. Friday morning when the road was reopened.
Deputies arrived to find two women were shot and killed, and a man with what investigators say is a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The man was flown by helicopter to a Nashville hospital. His status is unknown at time of writing.
According to 15th Judicial District Attorney Jason Lawson, the case is being investigated as a double homicide, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has assumed control of the investigation.
No further information was provided at time of writing.
This is a developing story.
