Summer learning is wrapping up in Trousdale County but work in the district for the 2026-2027 school year is going forward full swing.
At the June 18 school board meeting, Jennifer Cothron, Director of Schools, reported that 90 youth completed the summer school program that ended June 26 and over 45 children attended 4-H Camp.
The county dead period with no academic activities runs June 29 through July 4. Teachers will report to school for an in-service day on July 13.
鈥淚鈥檓 pleased to report that all administrators are in place for the upcoming school year,鈥 said Cothron. 鈥淚 plan to hold an off campus administrative retreat with all of them very soon to set goals and expectations for the next school year.鈥
The new administrators officially begin their new roles in the district on July 1. 鈥淚鈥檓 super excited about all of them,鈥 said Cothron. 鈥淚 know our new assistant principals are already working to help the school principals. They鈥檝e just jumped in to help wherever it is needed.鈥
School board member Racheal Petty, (Districts 4 & 8), said, 鈥淲e are still working on the document where parents/guardians can find out how we will release information.鈥
Cothron indicated she is in process of combining all of the input received from school administrators and when complete, the information on the communication procedures will be sent out to parents and provided by the first day of school.
Trousdale County students return to school on Thursday, July 30. The new student enrollment is now active on the district鈥檚 website. Registration for returning students opens June 29 also on the district鈥檚 website.
As a general note, enrollment and registration is a great time to ensure all phone numbers and emails are up to date on the districts database. Parents and guardians are encouraged to up date their contact and address information all through out the school year should anything change.
School board meetings are recorded and can be viewed on the website. The next school board meeting is set for Thursday, July 16 at 6 p.m. in the administrative building at 103 Lock Six Road, Hartsville.
